NEW YORK — September 21, 2026
On Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, the Ghana Diaspora Public Affairs Collective convened Ghanaian American leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals and community builders in New York City for Ghana House at UNGA: Reimagining the Republic.
Held during the United Nations General Assembly, the gathering created space for a forward-looking conversation about Ghana, the diaspora and the institutions needed to turn diaspora engagement into lasting economic, civic and public-affairs power.
The evening featured a conversation moderated by Terry Oppong, with Felicia Appenteng and Kwame Marfo, exploring questions of sovereignty, institution-building, economic participation and the evolving role of Ghana’s global diaspora.
A central theme throughout the evening was that sovereignty must be reflected not only in rhetoric, but in the capacity to build, invest, organize and shape institutions.
GHPAC also introduced two growing platforms designed to translate that vision into action: the GHPAC New York chapter and the Bese Saka Business Guild, GHPAC’s business and investment network connecting diaspora entrepreneurs and professionals to opportunities in Ghana and across the global Ghanaian economy.
The gathering marks another step in GHPAC’s effort to build permanent Ghanaian American civic infrastructure in major U.S. cities.
What’s next
GHPAC is now organizing its first group of New York Charter Members while expanding the Bese Saka Business Guild.
