GHPAC joined members of the Ghanaian and broader African diaspora at Akwasidae USA 2026 at Bowie State University on August 30 for a celebration of heritage, leadership and the enduring relationship between Ghana and its diaspora.

The gathering formed part of the historic U.S. visit of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, bringing together community leaders, institutions and families from across the region.

During the occasion, GHPAC presented a commemorative tribute recognizing the Asantehene’s leadership and his longstanding emphasis on education, cultural preservation and the responsibility of the diaspora to remain connected to Ghana.

For GHPAC, cultural preservation and civic institution-building are closely connected. Language, history and community institutions provide the foundation from which future generations of Ghanaian Americans can organize, lead and remain meaningfully connected to Ghana.

The gathering also reinforced GHPAC’s commitment to creating spaces where Ghanaian heritage can inform the next generation of diaspora leadership.
