How large is Ghanaian America? Where are Ghanaian Americans building communities? How are they participating economically and civically? What institutions have they built—and what priorities will shape the next generation?
GHPAC’s new State of Ghanaian America initiative is being developed to begin answering those questions.
The multi-year research effort will examine the Ghanaian American population through areas including demographics, geography, civic participation, economic life, institutions, community priorities and history.
An initial quantitative snapshot is planned ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, followed by preliminary findings presented during the Golden Symposium on November 8.
The initiative is intended to grow beyond a single report.
GHPAC’s longer-term goal is to establish a credible research and data platform capable of documenting Ghanaian American growth over time and giving community organizations, policymakers, researchers, businesses and civic leaders a stronger factual foundation for decision-making.
The work will also collect elements of Ghanaian American history—institutions, photographs, milestones, organizations and stories that have too often remained undocumented.
A community cannot fully organize its future without first understanding itself.
